Malt Madness on the WayBackMachine

Around the year 1997, the Malt Maniacs whisky
community started to coalesce around the site.
The Malt Maniacs Archives cover 1997 to 2011.
In 2007, Serge Valentin added his Whiskyfun
site to form an unholy trinity of whisky sites.

The complete reconstruction of the website will
take many more months. Follow me on Twitter
for updates on the progress on various fronts...

2015 saw the 20th jubilee of the MM website.
It was time for a major reconstruction effort to
make sure that Malt Madness remains surfable
in the foreseeable future. Some older pages may
be off-line for a while, but fortunately there’s...

January 1, 2016 - A very happy new year!
The MM website turned 20 years old in 2015.
Malt Madness is in a decrepit state right now, but
an almost complete recovery looks quite feasible.

March 29, 2017 - The Lexicon now covers
650 whisky world, phrases and expressions.
For the next phase I hope to add 100 more,
bringing the total to 750 entries soon.

February 1, 2014 - Remember when I retired
from the Malt Maniacs collective? Well, I still feel
responsible for the old content (1997 to 2011).
So, the Malt Maniacs Archives have been rebuilt.

After taking a break from Facebook for two
years I’ve returned to that strange medium too...

December 24, 2014 - The damage of the crash
was quite extensive, but a full recovery looks
quite feasible. The old Distillery Data section
and the map have been mostly repaired.

The first pages of Malt Madness were published
in 1995 by yours truly, Johannes van den Heuvel
and it has grown quite a bit since the olden days.
After loitering around GeoCities for a while, the
site found a home on www.maltmadness.com
and it has kept on growing there ever since...

OVER THE TWEET FEED AND SCROLLING DOWN.

December 15, 2014 - Fate has farted in my face
once more. Some style sheets cascaded all across
‘Ye Olde Syte’ - so many pages are now difficult to
read. It looks like repairs will take a few months.

Malt Madness is not suitable for mobile malt lovers yet...

I’ll try to post interesting or entertaining stuff on
Twitter (see above) and Facebook regularly.
Below you can find links to some pages on MM:

April 5, 2015 - Happy Easter everybody!
The 10 chapters of the Beginner’s Guide have
now been completely reconstructed. It took me
3 months, so it’s time for a leisurely break...

August 18, 2015 - I am very happy to report
that Malt Madness is back-on-line! thanks to our
new Whiskyfun ‘shirt sponsor’. In due time, MM
should be fully restored and upgraded...

September 27, 2015 - The Malt Madness site
has found a new sponsor in Bartels Whisky from
the UK.  But the pace of the reconstruction might
also depend on the amount of feedback I get...

October 7, 2015 - Still trying to get all my facts
straight for the Distillery Fact Sheet 0.9 (PDF);
Daftmill is added to the active distilleries and
Bladnoch is listed as “inactive” (for now).

March 1, 2016 - I’m afraid that the progress
with the reconstruction is still slowed down
because of SSL/https issues. Well, at least the
updated Scotch whisky industry list is live now.

June 21, 2016 - The good news is that a few
fresh distillery profiles are on-line. The bad news
is that the old profiles will look like crap again
until the refreshed profile is done...

October 5, 2016 - I’m afraid that you’ll have
to endure some broken links for a while longer
but I’ve added a whisky news page and there
now is a Malt Madness page on Facebook too.

October 4, 2015 - It’s ‘World Animal Day’, so
here’s something I’ve learned. While it’s funny to
watch your dog act funny on Bailey’s (they love
the stuff), alcohol is VERY dangerous for dogs.

December 23, 2016 - Judging by the updates
to this column little has been happening on MM,
but the Lexicon has been expanded quite a bit.
It now covers the letters A-F. Twenty more to go.

LIQUID LOG

Due to the massive website crash of Christmas
2014 I had to pretty much abandon my blog for
