The Big Crunch

At least... Erm... Yes, well, you see....

The sites are still under heavy reconstruction after 'the big crunch'.
That means that navigating around these pages will be tricky for a
few more months. Join the mailinglist if you want to know when the
new site is finished. And while you're at it, please don't hesitate to
send me your comments and suggestions for the site - the current
overhaul is a 'window of opportunity' to make other changes to
the MM site as well...

All that means that both the Malt Madness and Malt Maniacs
websites are in a fairly sorry state at the moment. Individual
sections like the Beginner's Guide on Malt Madness (all the
information you'll need on single malt whisky) or the Matrix
on Malt Maniacs are 'live' again, but the sites don't offer a very
smooth surfing experience yet. So, it might be best to hold off
on stories about Malt Madness or Malt Maniacs for the moment.

If you DO want to write about people who are mad about malts,
the Malt Maniacs Awards 2007 might be a nice topic. This world
wide whisky competition is now in its fifth year and has grown
into possibly the most widely respected spirits competition.
Last year 200 whiskies were submitted by 'the industry'.

Do you happen to be a member of the esteemed press? Hearty congratulations!
Not just on being a member of the esteemed press, but on finding the right
page on the Malt Madness site too. Together with the Malt Maniacs sister
site, Malt Madness has featured in hundreds of newspaper and magazine
articles - not to mention thousands of blog postings. Unfortunately, just
a few of these articles contained incorrect or incomplete information.

That's why I decided to add some 'facts & figures on Malt Madness'
to this page. Because this site has been running and growing since
1995, some of the information in a liquid log entry might not be up
to date anymore. For example, in some early entries from the 1990's
I'm crowing enthusiastically about the hundreds of visitors that the
site attracted each day. However, those numbers gradually grew to
thousands in the new millennium - and eventually tens of thousands
(well, at least more than 10,000 ;-) when Malt Madness merged with
'sister sites' Malt Maniacs and WhiskyFun (by fellow maniac Serge).

About Malt Madness;

Of course you'll be able to find plenty of information on the other pages of the Malt Madness site as well.
This 'general' segment is by far the smallest section of the site; check out the sitemap for a complete overview.

Meanwhile, here's a 'sneak preview' of the sort of maniacal stuff
you can find on the upcoming 'goodies' page. The 'poster' at the
right was submitted by Serge just when we were discussing fake
whisky bottles that were supposedly produced in the late 19th
century. As a result, some of the other malt maniacs became
inspired as well and came up with their own falsifications of
history - like the picture below 'proving' that things weren't
alsways as civilised as in the late 19th century...

And that's all for now, I'm afraid...
Over the next few months more and more sections will be reconstructed.
