Ooops...., Sorry...

Not to worry, though... I've put up an archive of A Decade of Heavy Dramming (covering 1995 to 2006) on the
Malt Maniacs server.
While I'm reconstructing Malt Madness I will gradually add new pages and sections to this server, gradually replacing the 'frozen' information in the ADHD section. Join the 'Mixed Messages' mailinglist for news about updates of Malt Madness and Malt Maniacs.
In the mean time, check out the home page for recent Liquid Log entries and other fresh additions.
Additions like the Beginner's Guide to Single malt whisky, for example.
It contains these 10 chapters of information about the history, production and enjoyment of malt whisky;
- Chapter 1: Fundamentals - The first chapter looks at what single malt Scotch whisky is exactly - and why it is so special.
- Chapter 2: Vocabulary - An entire chapter dedicated to terminology and pronunciation and stuff. Including some 'malt slang'.
- Chapter 3: Geography - Are the various malt whisky regions of Scotland (Lowlands, Highlands, etc.) comparable to wine 'terroirs'?
- Chapter 4: Distillation - The production process begins with malted barley, involves a hopless beer and ends with 'fresh spirit'.
- Chapter 5: Maturation - All that the fresh spirit needs to evolve into real whisky is time; a minimum of three years for the legal stuff.
- Chapter 6: Bottling - At some point the whisky is ready for bottling, so it can actually be distributed amongst whisky drinkers.
- Chapter 7: Shopping - Enough dry theory now, let's get down to business: how to spend your hard earned cash wisely.
- Chapter 8: Enjoyment - About glassware, adding water to your dram, temperature and all those other pesky little details.
- Chapter 9: Practice - And now, finally, it's time to actually pour yourself a dram or two of whisky - preferably single malt.
- Chapter 10: Conclusion - Some final words of whisky wisdom I'd like to share with my fellow whisky lovers.
That's just one of the five sections of the Malt Madness website.
Check out the introduction for more information on the website or the sitemap
for an overview of its contents.
Sweet drams,
Johannes van den Heuvel
The page you're looking for doesn't seem to exist anymore - at least not on this server.
I am reconstructing MM at the moment, but it will probably take a few more months before I'm finished.
